About

I’m interested in religion and difference and the dividing lines that separate the ‘us’ from the ‘them’ and the conflicts that these cause. I’m interested in beliefs and mind and thought and faith and questions of God and questions of no-God and science and quantum physics and music and emotion. I’m interested in far too many things to know about much of any. So I’m focusing on religion here. Born in Ireland, raised as Catholic, living in Dublin, lecturing (the basics of Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism) at Waterford Institute of Technology and doing a tiny bit of freelancing journalisming in my spare time, of which there is little and so there is near to none. Married with toddler.

Would you be interested in writing for The irish Times on this subject? If so, please contact me at the supplied address and we can try to have a chat about it.

  2. Hi Collette, a mutual friend, Sinead O’Connell told me about your blog. I was wondering if you would be free this Friday eve between 9 and 10pm to do a telephone interview for Irish Radio International (an internet radio station) to talk about your experience of Ramadan and perhaps the Eid celebrations. I co present a weekly programme and have also just recently produced a radio documentary on the Pakistani women of Cork. It would be great if you had the time.

  4. I was trying to read your blog: Islamophobia – or not. A request: Would you consider changing the size and typeface? Also darker writing against a dull background is easy on eyes. PS: I’m using a traditional desktop. Maybe the text it appears different on tablets etc.
